Among the Hidden ( #1)

This was a very interesting and thrilling book. The author had left you with a lot of cliff hangers after each chapter. This book was about a boy named Luke who grew up with his two older brothers Matthew and Mark, and his mom and Dad. They had lived in a very old house in the woods with a barn that his father had worked at. Luke was a third child which had been illegal because the government had made it a law earlier on because the population would get to big and people would go hungry. So all Luke had done for 13 years was hide in his house so the population police wouldn't find him and take him away. He had to live in his attic and for his life and couldn't eat with the family. He couldn't even go to school or go out of the house. One day the government had decided to cut down the woods and build very big houses for barons(the rich people). Luke would watch through the attic vents and watch them build, after the family's moved in they were all different and he had given them names like the sports family or the bird family because the objects around there house. Every morning he counted how many people had left each house and it was always the perfect number of people allowed. One day Luke had been looking outside carefully and in the corner of his eye he saw a face in the sports family window. The next second it disappeared, Luke didn't know what to think it was, a face or an illusion. A few weeks later he decided to take a risk while the family and everyone was out and break in their house. He had and the alarm had gone off he quietly walked through the house and saw a girl sitting on the computer. She turned around and tackled him and shut off the alarm so the population police wouldn't come and told her dad it was an accident. Her name was Jen and she too was a third child, every now and then he had gone to her house and talked about being a third child. She wasn't as careful as he was because barons always had it better. She had gone on the computer and talked to hundreds of other third children. She decided she was going to have a rally with a the kids going to the president and demanding that the law must come to an end. Months later it was time for the rally Jen had hacked the pop. polices schedules so they wouldn't be their to kill them. Luke had be to nervous to go and a week later he went back to Jen's house no one had been there the alarm went off but he knew the code. He went on the computer to talk to others where is Jen he had typed in. Someone came in the house with a gun it was Jen's father he was part of the population police but he understood. Luke asked the man where Jen was, he replied she got shot right before she reached the president's house all 40 of them, Jen had thought thousands were going. The pop police tracked the computer IM and came to the house Luke hid in the closet while Jen's dad held them off. They had left and Luke had talked to Jen's dad about it, her dad wanted Luke to get an ID. Luke went home and told his parents and was now Lee Grant. His parents punished him and now he had to go to a private school. His parents had said their last good byes and so had his brothers. He got in the car with Jen's dad and drove away and thought about his life and the one he was about to begin as LEE GRANT.
