The Perks of Being a Wallflower, By Stephen Chbosky
For my independent reading project for this marking period I read The Perks of Being a Wallflower, by Stephen Chbosky. The book is about a boy writing under the name "Charlie" and hes writing to a person who he though would be nice to write to. He writes to this person about his only friend committing suicide before the start of high school leaving him alone there. Soon he becomes friends with Patrick and Sam, two older students who are siblings and meets because Patrick is in his wood shop class. Throughout the book Charlie writes to the anonymous person about his older brother, a Penn-State football player, and his older, senior sister. He also writes to the person about whats going on with him in high school and about his crush on Sam. The ending of this book is very surprising and will let you find out what happens. This book was entertaining to read. It was also very easy to read to because since Charlie is writing letters to someone, anytime he finds anything he wrote confusing, he'll explain it, which helps a lot for the reader. Overall, this book is very good and will keep you excited throughout the whole thing.
